The last of the fast-living, hard drinking racing drivers - or so we thought until Kimi Raikonnen's drinking became famous. Hunt was much closer to the public ideal of a racing driver, though, as he didn't appear to be sedated during press conferences. Hunt was a great playboy, but took his driving seriously. After first coming to prominence with the wonderfully eccentric, sponsor-free, Hesketh team, he won the World Championship with McLaren. Heaven knows what the current McLaren boss, the obsessively neat and tidy Ron Dennis, would have made of James Hunt.
